LJ Etiquette : Commenting

I remember the first time I joined LJ my dear friend festivewind told me "just don't forget to comment when you take anything, it's important". I never forget her words, she's the one who taught me a lot of things about fandom. Related to that, ohfreckle also emphasizes on comment and feedback for artists/writers whose work we love.

I know people are lazy, number of people commenting/thanking is always MUCH LESS than the number of people who actually enjoyed the post/taking anything. It's a usual thing in fandom. But still, when it happens to you it sucks so hard.

tl;dr blah blah blahCollapse )

But I guess we can't expect people to have the same perception of internet manner or etiquette anymore. The internet is always changing, fandom world is changing. And with microblogging platform like tumblr where what people need to do is just to click one 'like' or 'reblog' button, thinking of words to say in an LJ comment seems like such a lot of work. Anyway, I'm sure many of you doesn't think so and I appreciate every comment I've ever got from any of you :)

my internet hates me (and I hate it)

This is just a general update, I'm sorry for not being around. Anywhere. I'm still adjusting with the changes moving back to my home country. Living back with my family definitely is different with living alone, and it's harder to find time to get online without being disturbed. But the biggest obstacle for me right now probably is how slow the internet connection here is, compared to the one I had before. It's kind of frustrating. It's harder for me to update tjrpics tumblr too, cos first I need to concentrate and focus when I'm editing pictures, and I have to find time when my family members isn't around. Plus, I have to browse around for pics to work on, or if I want to make gifs, I need to search and download the video first, and it takes so long with this internet speed :(

oh yea, this is another rant

:(

I know I've ranted a lot about graphics, but I'm really, really tired of people treating my graphics badly.

I don't get how graphics artists can steal other people's work and claim it as their own and be proud of it, and post it everywhere? Everyone can get pretty edited pics off tumblr and crop them into icons. Does it make those icons their work? No.

I do all the steps from the first, choosing pics, cropping, coloring, not to mention many of the collages I made have gone through several failed attempts. I learned to use photoshop myself while working on them, I search for tutorials, I ask directly to graphic artists who are more expert on how to do certain techniques. I learn from tumblr, I joined various graphics communities on LJ, and all of those long process helped me to be the graphics artist that I am right now. All of those tumblr collages seem like a daily thing that I post for fun, but it's a long process to be able to make those. PLEASE RESPECT THAT. Don't steal. Don't crop them into icons and claim them as your own. This fandom isn't that big, if you use my graphics, sooner or later I'm going to find out.

I always credit the source/photographers whose photos I used for my art. Hoping that people will look at that as an example on how you treat other people. I love photos. I respect those who share their pics.

I always tag my tumblr entry now. I'm not stupid, I'm fully aware that my tags are small and they're very easy to erase, that doesn't mean you are free to erase my tags and reuse my collages/edited pics.

I support art and creativity, really I do. You ask me for tips, I'll answer. You ask me for tutorial, I'm not an expert but I'll make one. Learn techniques by your own and try to make icons from scratch and be proud of it. You should be ashamed of what you post if what you did is just cropping other people's work. And it's really rude.

RESPECT AND THANK YOU.
